The School Successfully Held the 11th Faculty Teaching Skills Competition

The 11th Faculty Teaching Skills Competition organized by the college took place recently, where five young teachers showcased their teaching strengths in a head-to-head contest.

Teaching competitions serve as a vital training opportunity for teachers' professional growth. They help refine teachers' concepts of teaching design and improve their comprehensive teaching capabilities, and advance student-centered teaching reform and innovation. Especially in the context of artificial intelligence, such competitions inspire teachers to leverage technical tools to facilitate students’ knowledge comprehension and independent learning, and foster a positive and dynamic teaching atmosphere on campus.

The competition was strictly conducted in accordance with the rules of the Shanghai Youth Teacher Teaching Competition. All participants drew lots to determine their presentation order and randomly selected teaching segments for on-site teaching demonstration. The event was not merely a competition of professional expertise, but also a comprehensive assessment of teachers’ teaching design proficiency, on-site adaptability and educational philosophy. Ultimately, Yan Wupeng won the First Prize; Qing Rui and Li Lei won the Second Prize; Li Xiaofei and Lu Hongzhong won the Third Prize. The judging panel fully acknowledged the participants’ enthusiastic teaching attitude and solid professional fundamentals, and put forward targeted and pertinent suggestions from multiple dimensions, including classroom interaction, curriculum organization and educational technology application.

As a signature event held for eleven consecutive years, the Faculty Teaching Competition of the School of Life Science and Technology has become an important platform for young teachers to polish their professional skills and exchange teaching experience. In the future, the school will continue to promote teaching improvement and educational reform through competitions. It will support the growth of young teachers through diverse channels and drive the sustained advancement of teaching research and education competency.
